Today I had to deal with the devil of all exams; multiple choice. You have it in your head that you're doing really well then you realize you have three D's in a row and start to doubt yourself cause that just can’t be right can it? Or at least that’s the way my mind works. Then I had to finish my essay on the Sixties, which I think may have garnered me an A, though I may have gotten a bit carried away with explaining mod, Twiggy, The Beatles, and the youth’s influence on society. At least it was a sufficient answer to why I am so enamored by the Sixties. Anyways, to make a long story short – thinking is exhausting so I decided to take a mini-break on YouTube and watch various videos, somehow I stumbled on one of Johnny Depp and Kate Moss, and I think they made an amazing couple. They were totally ignoring the interviewer and were much more interested in giggling at the camera mans short-shorts, acting way above national television. It was hilarious; the poor interviewer was going on about how they should get married and how lovely it was and about some charity, meanwhile Johnny and Kate were casually ignoring the questions way more absorbed in each other. I always thought those two must have got up to some pretty intense stuff, can’t you just imagine it grunge supermodel queen Kate Moss and hell raiser baddie Johnny Depp doing whatever they felt like. Including trashing a few $2,000 hotels, bathing in champagne, and being ridiculously passionate about life, my heroes. Besides the sound of the constant sniveling, I have had one song stuck in my head all day; Spies by Coldplay. The one that starts out with a creepy almost Pink Floyd like cord then goes on about spies coming out of the water and hiding behind every corner, it's on the album Parachutes with the massive red moon (sun?) on the cover. Well that’s the one, and every few seconds Daniel Craig and his Bond women stride through my head. There is no doubt in my mind that Daniel Craig is the ultimate James bond, he is hard core, cold, and fueled by revenge. And there is no doubt in my mind that Casino Royale is the best Bond movie, but what I am really unsure about is which Bond girl is my favorite. Let me make this clear this is no easy task, James goes through them quite quickly from Pussy Galore to Strawberry Fields to Honey Ryder. But for now, I will show you some of Bonds most recent girls, but I would love to hear who your favorite Bond is, why, who your favorite Bond girl is, why, and who you think should be the next Bond girl. Supposedly rumors are flying that Jennifer Aniston, Megan Fox, and Frieda Pinto are being considered for the role in the sequel to Quantum of Solace. Personally, I might kill myself if Megan Fox becomes the next Bond girl because Bond girls have to be smart, and I don’t really see that element in her. I also don’t think Jennifer Aniston should be the next Bond girl because while she may look mighty fine for her age she is just a little too old and we have all seen her around in tons of movies. And I don’t know what to think of Frieda Pinto as a Bond girl she is darling but looks just a little young and innocent for the role. Well, I still haven’t come to a conclusion yet, but I think next year I want to be a Bond girl for Halloween and I need an Ursula swimsuit for spring. Thanks for all the supporting comments, you guys are getting me through all my homework and exams (yes, already)! I am absolutely knee-deep in homework with a head full of Harry Potter theories, soccer moves from this morning, and She Wolf by Shakira is stuck in my head. Just last night while playing Rock band with my friends I banned us from playing “un-worthy” songs, and now I’m listening to She Wolf…apocalypse is coming. But surely there are more important things in life than my musical intent, for an example what to wear for Halloween. Tim Burton, the king of all creepy spine tingling movies; Beetlejuice, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, Sweeney Todd, and the soon to be released Alice In Wonderland to name a few, directed this spread. Living with Helene Bonham Carter might do this to you. But obviously this was meant to inspire us all for Halloween. I find this spread certainly er interesting and memorable but it didn’t inspire my Halloween costume….because I’m being Sleeping Beauty, who is kind of the polar opposite of these morbid models. Nevertheless you could say Sleeping Beauty was half-dead for awhile. Anyways, I would love to hear whether you have thought about Halloween costumes yet or what you are going to be, so do tell! Now I must go off to finish Harry Potter: and the Order of the Phoenix for the millionth time and struggle through the death of my favorite character, Sirius Black. Have an excellent weekend! There is nothing I adore more than beautiful well dressed people and tags. So today, I’m going to do a joint post and share both! And while these pictures depress me because instead of me being at all the Fashion Weeks from NYC to London, I am thinking of a math test I may have failed and tying to grasp the concept of parallel universes and areas of purely nothing without matter whatsoever. School... I digress, but these pictures also make me optimistic that people are still making an effort to create a more beautiful world with fashion. Grab your black tea and enjoy darlings! Romeo + Juliet 09/21/2009
Pretty much the most heartbreaking movie ever. One day I flipped to the 1996 version of Romeo + Juliet, being an avid Leo fan I submersed my self into one hundred and twenty minutes of beauty and lovely music, Baz Luhrmann, a favorite director of mine (Moulin Rouge) created a fantastic romantic world of tragedy. From the first moment they laid eyes on each other, the nighttime kiss in the pool, and until ultimately the last scene, I savored every minute. It was almost surreal when it ended, I had to watch it over and over again, I cried like never before for hours. Now don’t deprive yourself of this joy, go turn it on and tune into the tragedy for ”never was a story of more woe than this of Juliet and her Romeo." And love is fine for all we know, for all we know our love will grow - thats what the man said. 09/20/2009
Just incase no one is sick of NYC Fashion Week yet, I have more squealing over Leonardo DiCaprio collections to share. Charlotte Ronson: No doubt this collection will do well in stores, full of blazers, jumpsuits, and clever jackets it’s just what the market wants. But I thought I might mention that that the bodysuit in the middle is amazingly similar to something Stella McCartney designed a few years back. Which leads me to think that this collection isn’t very original, just something nice that will sell well. BCBG Max Aziria: Tight body conscious dresses, loud prints, and off the shoulder dresses…sound familiar? Indeed, I feel like I have already see this collection before, nothing special. Whitney Eve: I have never been a fan of The Hills, but I have seen The City a few times and found Whitney adorable with the loveliest sense of style! This collection didn’t disappoint, it stayed true to her metallic-party hopping-a wee bit short- -style, and I love it. L.A.M.B: As some of you may remember I went to a No Doubt concert last summer and fell in love with Gwen Stefani and decided I wanted to be her when I grew up. A few months have past, and nothing has changed, just when I grow up I want to be a piece of Gwen Stefani’s clothing. Diane Von Furstenberg: My mum actually went to school with Diane Von Furstenberg’s daughter, and ever since I was informed of this I have imagined what it would be like to be a Furstenberg or how a Furstenberg thinks. And in this collection Furstenberg’s thought let’s add several decades together – 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s – together and see what we get. With bright hemp colours from the 60’s, bohemian flora from the 70’s, neon accessories from the 80’s, and loose tee dresses from the 90’s it surely worked. I can’t help but adore this hodge-podge of ideas and wanting all of it. This collection is my solution of which decade I would like to personify. Betsy Johnson: What did you expect? Square blazers? Well cut pant suits? Yeah right! With Betsy you are always guaranteed circus level craziness, bright colours, silly make up and hair, and a shining beacon in the usually drab NYC Fashion Week. Rodarte: This collection looks pretty much the same as the last one, just a little more decadent and a little more dead-er. Neh… Milly: Just adorable, from the bows to the adorable childish cardigans I loved it. The collection looks like a well paid toddlers closet, can’t you envision yourself, as a 5 year old, running into the store, and grabbing the most obnoxious print (middle) and loving it? Well, that’s a wrap up of NYC Fashion Week for now….I feel sick of looking a tiny models and feel motivated to go on a fun. Thanks for reading darlings! Been away at a Challenge Ropes Course Retreat with my school, so I haven't been able to update all of you on NYC fashion's week debuts. To makeup for it, I have a picture heavy jaw-dropping-mind-boggling collection of images to share with you. Hope you enjoy and dish out your opinions on the collections, I always love to hear from you. Rag & Bone: Boyish to say the least. Tons of blazers and slouchy harem-like pants. Hark to the old Ralph Lauren look. Not over the top impressed, yet very wearable. Preen: Many people weren’t too pleased about the Preen collection, but quite frankly I’m in love. I find the pink lemonade colour divine and the perfect colour to transform a manly suit and the best suiting colour for a frock. Erin Wasson X Rvca: Typical Erin Wasson, when I first entered the bloggosphere I had no idea who she was, but as seeing everyone idolizes her I slowly let her in. I respect her carefree muse look, but this collection just doesn’t do it for me. I was more interested in Irina Lazareanu’s (far right) new hair cut, I miss her fringe dearly. Alexander Wang: Called the designer of the century and awarded many times and an agreed cutie. I was on the wall about his collection, but I will have to sleep on it. Since I find Alexander Wang cute I kind of find the school darling look cute as well, but not exactly revolutionary. Understandable? Jeremy Laing: Loved all the asymmetrical cuts in powder grays and whites. Also I found the way his clothing hangs inspirational. Derek Lam: J’adore! Very seventies, very French, and very fabulous. Brilliant colours, interesting cuts, and oh so very playful. Despite the models stern demeanor I can still envision myself prancing to amazing parties (that I wish I was invited to) with everyone staring at me, the it-girl of the evening. Zac Posen: Rachel Zoe planted this picture in my mind that Zac Posen was well known because of his lovely red dresses and such, and I believe he is. But this collection crashed my definition of him, how did I never see this eccentric decadent side of him? And I think I kind of like it…it’s like the good boy you always thought was sweet but is really a bad-boy underneath… Thankoon: Notice those shoes, my divine. And that bustier? I would even walk into my Catholic school and risk expulsion just to wear it. Marc Jacobs: Marc has a knack of turning a beautiful collection or advertisement disturbing, and he does in on purpose. Why he does this I don’t quite know, and the geisha look is slightly disturbing, but if you past this you will see Mister Jacobs always immaculate details. Still working on comprising images of Charlotte Ronson’s collection (love) and Rodarte’s (hasn’t really changed) collection. And on other news I have been thinking of getting a fringe just like the one Irina Lazareanu (who I mentioned earlier and is pictured above) use to sport until she hacked it off for the sake of change, however I have golden hair so I’m not sure it would look as indie rocker. What do you gals (and guys) think, yes or no? This dear graduates and public school readers, is how us private schoolers do it; the uniform. And here is me rockin’ the school girl look to the max, even down to the nerd glasses – which you can’t see due to the obnoxious black box covering my face. Lewa (my A-M-A-Z-I-N-G photographer and friend) and I trekked out to the local high school (which I don’t even go to interestingly enough) to celebrate the joys of the uniform. As the inside leather of my boots began to stick to my legs, and as I adjusted my itchy polo, I considered the benefits of the uniform. Many fashionista’s would say uniforms are restricting and don’t allow you to show your individuality. I tend to disagree. Because I am not allowed to wear "normal people" clothing I have to work harder to develop my style and pass it by teachers. Also, if I had to pick what to wear every single day of the week I would never arrive at school on time and I would go skint. It would take me a ridiculous amount of time to decide what to wear and I would have to buy so much more clothing that I would have no money left. My childish cheer leader antics are shown in public view now. I don’t know what you guys think, but I don’t think my uniform is too ugly either. Livable infact, and makes me feel like I should be going to boarding school or a Lacoste convention. Yet, I’m not the perfect school girl, as you can see. I’m secretly reading Vogue hidden behind my math book. Sneakily, ignoring pressing home work and reading into the exhilirating world of Karl Lagerfeld’s mind. Oh so very entertaining, who really cares about algebra anyway. And just to fit the high school theme too appropriately I drew a little heart for Mister Troy Bolton ‘cause we are secret lovers. When High School Musical first came out I loved it, then I went through a ‘I am way above this’ stage, and then I realized ‘I am way above nothing’ and fell into a delirious love again. Anyone else feel the same way? School and sports do get in the way of things, and I feel like I must make time for the blog but I want to live my life as well. But I will stop complaining and share with you this wonderful Teen Vogue spread, I feel that it somehow describes my life last night. Last night my friends and I went to a dance, with over 600 teenagers, strobe lights, and loud music. Everyone was wearing variations of style, always shocking to me to see so many people age in one room not in uniforms. They were wearing ugly fake 90’s purple plaid to over the top 80’s neon to today’s typical Abercrombie tops. But it was definitely enjoyable tons of people jumping up an down to the same beat, that is until you can’t stand the lingering smell of over powering cologne and sweat, then you have to take a break outside, with the rest of the people who can’t stand mosh pits and lame rap songs (that shout out “you’re a jerk, you’re a jerk, you’re a jerk” over and over again). Then outside you lay against each other and spin in circles still not far away to not hear the music. That leads to playing intense games of hand tennis until your hand turns red and you beg a friend to go buy water. I know the dance schedule pretty well; we go to these dances every month and pretend that we are the coolest people in the world…which is quite possibly true. And once the slow songs come back on (please, no more Mariah Carey ever again) we wander back inside to stare at the hopelessly romantic couples and pretend it’s not really awkward that we are dancing mostly with people that we have known for about eight years. And finally, the DJ stops spinning, the record stops screeching, and the lights go down. And as if it was in slow motion hundreds of dirty teenagers swarm to the single door out and push and shove into the clean air of the outdoors. We walk out of the parking lot together, as if we were in victory, to go back to our seemingly repetitive lives but this time sharing the secret of the night. Yep, that’s how it goes. My dear, I have taken a rather little extended hiatus. But I have several sound explanations. A. I went to my friend’s cabin for two days. B. Then I had to go to a party that spanned two days. C. My room remodel finally finished and I had to move in. D. And I had to build three pieces of IKEA furniture (and you just know how long that takes). E. School started two days ago, very busy. D. I have started a new section of FASHIONconfectionairy, which isn’t quite finished yet. So hopefully, that makes it up to you. But I do have another letdown to share with you Lewa (my A-M-A-Z-I-N-G photographer friend) and I planned a really cool photo shoot, and everything was going to plan and was stylized, when…it started raining buckets, in Seattle, how surprising. But, I'm sure we will be able to re-schedule, darn us teenagers sound professional, and try again. However, for the moment being I am going to share some vintage girly Miss Moss, which is just how I feel right now in my new room and I’m going to ramble on about other important issues. Important issue number one concerns the Beatles, as usual. This time I am not arguing with myself about something that happened decades ago, something that actually happened today. Today as in 9-9-09, as in the day where Beatles Rockband and the Beatles on iTunes are released. This day was picked in celebration of the infamous Revolution 9 song “number nine, number nine, nine, number nine…” and after John Lennon’s song #9 Dream and his birthday 0ctober 9 (which happens to be my mums birthday) and…..wait, wait, wait before I continue with all the Beatles nine links and mystery let me make something clear. Today was the day that the Beatles on iTunes was supposed to happen. And well, it was an urban myth and hasn’t happened. Now you may be thinking why is she so upset about this? Doesn’t she already have all the songs? And yes I do, its just I was excited to see how the general public would respond to The Beatles on iTunes. According to surveys over 85% of young people today like the Beatles, as they only like Coldplay 39%, Kanye 44% and so on, so…that means that The Beatles are ultimate any time. Think about this, that’s like young people liking brass bands and classic music in the 60’s instead of the Rolling Stones and well the Beatles. Anyway, I just find that rather annoying that they aren't on iTunes. Next thing I find annoying is that I can’t access this page, my own blog. So I have no idea what your comments are saying or what this post finally looks like. I am definitely working on it and see what will happen, is this happening to anyone else? Well hope not, I won’t even know what your answers ‘cause I can’t see them, but oh well for now. Then I found inclass today that it was agrivating that we weren't aloud to do long multiplication or division on our calculators, that just eats up my time. We are not going to get out of this world alive so why waste our time on lond multiplication and division? And just to set you over the limit with annoying things that are so abundant in this world, policemen don’t let you sit in their cars for no reason. I find this rule immoral and useless, and they don’t have to be so rude about it. Now I must go on a walk with my dog and figure out how to sort out my life and post more, thanks for reading! |
