I'm going to let this unreal sunshine feeling last. Today I had several mini lacrosse games, it was a burning 82 degrees.

Picture
Sorry if I have been overloading on the editorials, I just love how others can express feelings and style so well. But I will put up an outfit post soon. Don't you love those metallic pants, so out there and perfect.

Picture
Doesn't she look ethereal. I love her peroxied bangs, I have wanted straight bangs ever since Anne Hathaway's make over in Devil Wears Prada, but it probably wouldn't suit me.
Picture
Look closely at the neckplate, there are little robots on it! That is something I definitley need.

Picture
I love the location of this, the white sand with the clear blue sky looks really surreal.

Picture
That dress, very Stella McCartney, feminin, yet edgy and what every girl wants to wear.

Picture

Hope you are all feeling this sunshiny feeling too, if you're not go soak up some rays with your best friends. Or go dancing, I had a school dance last night, so much fun. :)

I know many bloggers have been re-discovering grunge and the 90's, I'm just discoveing it, due to my age and all. My favorite decades have always been the 60's and the 80's. I have always been able to see and understand the feel of the 60's and 80's and I have just filled in everything pretty much in between.  But know I have been nibbling away at pre-60's and post-80's. So far, I have been finding the 90's easier to understand than the 50's. My dad was saying that it is probably easier for me to understand the 90's because the 90's attitude (f*** you and we are the it generation) is somthing all teenagers have or wish they had. That attitude is visible today, because us teenagers are it, not to sound narsisistic, just kidding. Anyway, I adore this spread from ELLE doesn't Frieda Pinto look like a tomboy?

Sorry I haven't been able to post, my computer has been not working, it made me very annoyed! And I have had a very busy weekend; I have gone shopping, to a sleepover, to the pool with friends twice, to a party, running, just tons of things to do. Didn't buy anything this week, though there were so very lovely pieces at H&M. The Matthew Williamson collection was all around not too impressive, a bit disappointing like Alexander McQueen for Target. Life goes on.  At the pool I sprayed an unreasonable amount of Sun-In in my hair; my brown hair now looks gold red. I think I like it, it make me look like a goddess *gush*. But it with take some time to get use to, everyone was very surprised by my change in colour. Anyway, the pool was lovely and the weather gorgeous. I was constantley taking pictures of everything. But what everyone else had was a cute bathing suit, I was just wearing one of my swim team swimsuits, I need a cute swimsuit and cover up!!!

Picture

This Chloe one is so adorable and would look perfect with my “new hair” and soon to be very tanned body. I love the ruffles on it, the white looks angelic, and the trim sends me to heaven. Then for a cover up:

Picture

And of course I will need sunglasses, my preference today is aviators. Hope every one is having a splendid day, hopefully in the sun!

Picture
Just one more thing, I am loving where my life is and thought I might add this one optimistic picture. Thought it might bring a smile to your faces!

I love re-discovering editorials, and this one is definitley a new favorite! The editorial is titled La Dolce Vita, photographed by Nick Haymes, and is distributed by the ever lovely TeenVogue. I really adore TeenVogue, everything they publish is well written and vey appealing. They view the world in the most perfect way, edgy, flirty, preppy, and totally age appropriate!

Picture
The theme of the photo shoot is to "get swept away by the romance of Venice in frilled blouses, plush coats, and tangles of gold chains."I'm petty swept away, how about you?

Picture
That guys coat is divine, as my long time readers know, I adore military jackets. I think rediscovering this editorial is a sign that I NEED a military jacket.

Picture
I'm not sure what they are doing in this photo, looks like they are having a little morbid party....

Picture
TeenVogue makes me want a boyfriend, one who dresses well and touches my hair, and that will hold little morbid parties with me.

SWEPT AWAY X10

Picture
*Sigh* too cute. Anyway dearies, I have been having a fantastic day and I hope you have been to. Today was career day and my friend and I went down to The Seattle Times newsroom. We got to talk to journalist and various photographers. And we got to go to "the ten 'oclock meeting" which was a rather surreal expierence. We got to sit in and hear brilliant minds discuss stories, issues, and what will be in the next paper. I now know all the secrets! One of the amazing people we met today was Moira, she had the cutest heels and she had the coolest job. She gets to see watch movies  early and review them, jealous! Though I still want to be a fashion journalist over a movie journalist/reviewiest. Moira if your reading this, I had a lovely time, thank you so much! After that I got to go vintage shopping with a friend. Then after that we got a gelato (I had a rather peculiar flavor; rose) and I went to swim team. So, I am in a absolutley lovely mood, loving life, and I would just like to wish you all a great day! Oh, and check out this etsy designer that makes message in bottles, very adorable! And one more thing, I am havng a coldplay playlist marathon, it's really lovely, you should try it!

Picture

The weather here in Seattle has been even more unbearly rainy and dark, and homework has been piling up even more to my dismay. I thought after all our exams were over we would have lighter homework. Apparently not. For an instance today in english we got a 700 point poetry assighnment, and if we finish everything required we only get a C. Which means I have to decipher an extra million"stimulating" poems to find perconifications, metaphors, onomaonapeias, concretetations, deeper meanings, and wrtite millions of my own "stimulating poems to get an A. That is going to be painful. This is the reason Mary Ann-Taylor I haven't been posting as often, it's not intentional...life just gets in the way.

Picture
Anyway, I'm sure as "stimulating" as my complaints may be, you might want to hear me actually talk about fashion. And I will, not only for the love of it (though I am feeling a bit un-inspired, read what Kay wrote, I'm feeling like her) but also for nessesicty. As we all know summer is just around the corner, for me in 547 hours (a.k.a 22 days). And my favorit part of summer is traveling, but my least favorite is packing. This summer I will be going on my annual trip to Europe for three or four weeks and to Cali for a week to visit my god-sibilings.. Packing for Europe is always stressful because we are gone such a long time. But this year, I have made myself a promise that I will NOT over pack as I usually do. I have a fool proof plan that will get me just the right clothes, and hopefully it can help you in your future packing too!

Picture
First things first, is you must know the average temprature of the place you are going to. Since I am talking about summer traveling, I think its fair to assume it will be warm. Some prettyfloral and solid skirts are great for traveling. They are easy to layer and lighteight for hot weather. You can wear them with a tank top stucked in or with a vintage graphic tee on top. These skirts below are easy to mix and match, and very versitile. I am thinking about bringing four along ith me.

Picture
However, if you prefer shorts, there are some excellent short choices  as well. But be aware of museum/church restictions on length. When I was ten I was rejected from the Vatican because I was wearing to short shorts, that obviously suprised me, and to this day I always remember to bring longer shorts. But it is all ways nice to bring three pairs of shorts with different lengths. And you never want to look like the typical american traveler so stay away from sport shorts.
Picture
Then for the tops as I said before airy tank tops are a travelers heaven, sweet blouses, and graphic/vintage tops always add some indavisuality to your oufit. But as I said above be aware of museum/church restrictions, if you have on revealing midriffs and shoulders you could be rejected. So, I am always sure to bring a light weight cardigan.

Picture
Picture
Of course, dresses are so easy and pretty for summer. I am planning on dedicating a large portion of my suitcase to them. And as for the shoes, the americans travelers greatest taboo. Please forgo the white tennies, they make me gag. Instead try some gladiator sandals, well made wedges, and perhaps a pair of lightweight converse.

Picture

Picture

This has been brief, but hopefully a little helpful.  Was that just lighting....it was, great....anyway at my age I consider myself an expeienced traveler (been to Europe 15 times and counting) but I would love any advice you have. Just one more thing, I got an award from the lovely Sarah at Kissing Her Cage Good-bye!!! Thank you, you made my day!

Rules: 1. Accept the award, post it on your blog together with the name of the person who has granted the award, and his or her blog link.2. Pass the award to 15 other blogs that you've newly discovered. Remember to contact the bloggers to let them know they have been chosen.

Yay, I got tagged again, this time by the ever lovely Ruth of FlossyBlossom.

What is your current obsession?
The Beatles (as always) and a card game I learned yesterday called spit. Probably the best game ever. Period.

Picture
What is your weirdest obsession?
Same thing as I said in my last tag, doing the Slumdog Millionaire dance. Trst me it really is fun, the best part is trying have the same swinging hips as Dev Patel, very difficult!

What are you wearing today?

Still in my pj's (again).....I will have to see about that.

What's for dinner?

How should I know? Maybe fish? I don't eat meat, so I can rule that out of the question.

What's the last thing you bought?

A beaded hippie headband.

Picture
Picture
What are you listening to right now?
Lets Dance To Joy Division (Wombats) and Martha My Dear (The Beatles)

Picture
What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
I am a vanilla type of girl but I love coffe ice cream too.

Picture
What do you think about the person who tagged you?
I actually haven't met her, but Ruth is a superb blogger and has the prettiest pictures on her blog. Oh, and she likes Topgun, which means she is one of the gang.

Picture
If you could have a house totally paid for, fully furnished anywhere in the world, where would you like it to be?
Definetly, London. My mum grew up there and I get to constantly hear her accent and I go there every summer. Over the last few years I have become pretty enamoured by England, the Royal Family, tea, Chelsea, Harrods, the countryside, just the way of life. The also have the best candy!

Picture
What's your must have piece for summer?
Raybans and summer dresses.

Picture
If you could go anywhere in the world for next hour, where would you go?
As I said in my last tag, Rome. I would love to be in sunny weather and to get to walk around and see all the amazing sights then grab a slice of pizza.

Picture
Which language do you want to learn?
French, my mum was born there, her mom was born and grew up there, and pretty much all my immediate family and alll the family on my mums side speaks it. Sometimes I feel pretty left out of the conversation, currently, I take spanish at my school because that's the only option. But I will take French very soon, can't wait!

Which is your favorite Beatle?

ahem...look below...but I really do LOVE them all.

Who do you want to meet right now?
Paul McCartney and Michael Phelps.

Picture
Picture
What is your favorite colour?
Yellow, for now. Maybe tomorrow I will like blue, who knows..
.

What is your favorite piece of clothing in your own wardrobe?
I hate these questions, it's like picking a favorite between friends....you just can't decide. Sorry, this is going to be a question not responsive answer.

What is your dream job?
Being a fashion journalist in London for British Vogue or British ELLE.

What's your favourite magazine?
Teen
Vogue or ELLE.

Picture
If you had £100 now, what would you spend it on?
A romper, gladiator sandals (which I have failed so far to get), and a well cut blazer.

Picture
Favorite designer?
Chanel is always timeless, I adore Chloe's vibe, and Stella Mccartney is too amazing (and no, not just because she is Paul McCartney's daughter). Stella creates clothing that women want, and styles them for real women. This season I loved her oversized blazers, those cage-ish shoes (which weren't real leather, go vegetarians), and those black leather boots that went all the way up to your thigh.

Picture
Do you admire any one's style?
Yes, everyone's style, your style, my friends style, my neighbors style, the girl in the magazines style, artists style, actors style, everyone inspires me

Describe your personal style?
Little bit out there, bohemian, classy, girly, sporty, just depends on the day really. No matter what, my rule is - better over dressed than under.

What are you going to do after this?
Do my homework than go to do my last performance of Seussical.

What are your favourite movies?
Top Gun, Slumdog Millionaire, Music and Lyrics, Across the Universe, Four Weddings and a Funearl, Moulin Rouge, The Breakfast Club, Romeo + Juliet, Titanic, Tropic Thunder, Twilight...the list goes on.

Picture
What's your favourite fruit?
Grapefruits, I was telling my mum the other day that grapefruits should be our national fruit. Is there such things as a national fruit?

What inspires you?

The world that we live in.

What music do you like this week?
The Beatles, Kanye West, the Verve, and The Rolling Stones. Didn't I kind of already answer this question? Doesn't matter, I love music, life would be pointless with out it. Like I said in my last tag, I'm all for expanding the sound!

Picture

The rules : 1. Respond and rework; answer the question on your blog, replace one question that you dislike with a question of your invention, or add one more question of your own. 2. Tag eight other people.

I'm tagging everyone, everyone should do this tag, it's so much fun!

I probably won't be able to post in the next few days and certaintly not tonight. Over the last three months my school has been working on our annual musical, this year it's Seussical. Since this Monday, we have been practicing 5-9 which has been very stressful. But finally tonight is our opening night, we are all very excited! So, just letting you know my reason for my abscence. Here is a section of the lyrics to my favorite song in the show; Solla Sollew.

HORTON
There's a faraway land
So the stories all tell
Somewhere beyond the horizon.
If we can find it
Then all will be well,
Troubles there are few,
Someday, we'll go to...

In Asland 05/12/2009

Here is the second photo shoot, we braved thorns and thickets. Even poison ivy, unfortunatley Lewa (my A-M-A-Z-I-N-G photographer friend) got stung.

This photo reminds me of the book Narnia, where they step out of the closet into the wide open land of Asland. This Asland, is infact Beaver Pond, again. Lewa told me today that there are beavers there, just hypernating. I think it's all a big conspiracy.

On the way to our location Lewa told me to pick some dandelions. Earlier this week, she had taken some pictures of dandelions and found they photographed really well. You can see one of her pic.s on the sidebar. Anyway, by the time we had gotten to this neck of the woods, Lewa was sick of me blowing them everywhere and told me to stop. I guess I wasn't listening because I kept on twirling them. But now Lewa is glad that I didn't stop because this photo turned out to be by far our favorite.

Some readers asked me to specify where I got my clothing. So,  I will. I am wearing a skirt from Nordstoms, an authentic Indian embroidered top, a vintage belt, and a DIY vest covered in buttons from my cherished collection. And heel/wedges I am wearing are Steve Madden's (isn't he a most wonderful bloke?). I love all of Madden's designs, there are trendy yet, not too trendy.

In this shot I am actually sitting on a ledge of a cliff (you will see in the next photo), and I am tensing my stomach and gripping the edges being sure not to fall off.

Here you can see part of the cliff, but you can't see my face. it looks like I have a ghost face. Apparently, I am a ghost that is flying...no?

Our second favorite shot.  There was a small viaduct that went across the pond that you are able to run on. This was meant to be a silly action shot, but I quite like it.

Oh, and here is something sad. On the way back to Lewa's house we noticed the pavement. The "pavement" was actually tar that had been painted to look like a pavement. How sadly surbuban and cheap? Lewa thought it was hilarious, it reminds me of knock-off bags and such. Nevertheless, I find it intensiley funny. Also i love how this shot shows all the colours in stripes.

Today, Lewa (my A-M-A-Z-I-N-G photographer friend) and I went on a little adventure, to Beaver Pond near her house. We had to literally hike our way through a jungle of leaves to get to our destination. Later we realized there was a much safer and quicker route.

This is my Hidden Dragon Crouching Tiger pose. I was nearly falling off this hill and Lewa kept shouting "you're the tiger of the night" (which means...?) and there was a little unespecting Korean man on top of the hill eating his lunch. I think she scared him, but he never said anything.

I am not going to have my face on this blog (yet), but my parents find hair acceptable. The leather flower, that is about to fall off my loose bun, is from France. My great-grandmother Mami, who lives there, gave it to me many years ago. I only just found it again this morning. And the necklace I am wearing is my mum's and is made of coral. I think it is such a lovely colour!

After climbing trees in wedge-heels (yes, it can be done) we decided to visit the actual creek pond thing.

And I went under a bridge, pretending to be that monster that eats three goats in that childrens story. However, that didn't last very long and we decided to inspect the water.

With total confidence, I can tell you there are no beavers in Beaver Pond, contrary to many peoples beliefs.

Lewa said the bridge was over troubled-polluted-ucky water. And indeed it was, but I decided to go in anyway. It was FREEZING cold, and Lewa said there might be leeches; I really didn't need any further convincing to get out. My face in this picture, which you can't see, looks very pained, it wasn't a great shot, but I have to show you because I labored for it!

Here are my favorite shots, in the daisies, being a flower child. We considered making a daisy crown, but I already had on a beaded headband.

On the way back we decided to go to one more destination; the traffic circle. I stood there trying not to laugh while old people drove their cars by. This boy was in his car and just stared at me while he drove by, he probably thought I was pretty strange.

Well this is where our adventure reaches a dead end. We went back inside exhausted and ate fruit. Have a nice day everyone!!!!!!

Weighty Topic 05/09/2009

There has been a much discussion on fashion's latest controversy: how much models weigh. And in return how much we weigh. The average model size has shrunken substantially and people are righteously concerned. When I look at many of today's models I see a rack, a rack that is nauseatingly thin. Sunken eyes, pale faces, and bony limbs. Models use to be tall and slender, but with a filled face and a healthy glow. Below is a photo of a few super skinny models, I understand all models aren't like this, but this could be our near future.

Designers defend their models by saying they are suppose to look like a rack or hanger, just as a showcase. But that leads me to think does this designers clothing only fit and look good on hangers?? So, then why would/should we buy their clothes (besides the fact that fashion is beast)?

However, the fashion industry and their models don't deserve all the blame for this weight issue. The celebrities are also increasingly shrinking. Think Rachel Zoe, Mary-Kate/Ashley Olsen, Nicole Richie, Kristen Stewart, Kiera Knightly, Lindsay Lohan, Evan Rachel Wood, Victoria Beckam, the list goes on. And the celebrities we thought were thin (a.k.a Heidi Klum, Kate Moss, Eva Mendez) are now being considered too fat! If Kate Moss is fat, than what am I? Exceedingly obese apparently. The media fills our heads with the images of thin celebrities, on billboards, movie screens, soda cans, and magazines, everywhere. So, naturally they are a big influence on us.

But surprisingly, some say models and celebrities haven't influenced to lose weight just to gain weight and make us feel even more self-conscious. They say that since we are always seeing so many thin socialites we just give up. While this theory seems reasonable, I have to disagree. Everywhere we go now I see new fitness clubs being set up, advertisements for new diets, and slowly healthier foods. Am I contradicting myself now? First I said celebrities and models are too thin, and that they influence us greatly, but they actually haven't influenced us normal imperfect human beings to lose weight, but on the other hand healthier options are being set up. Confused much?

I am. Now I don't know the dividing lines between skinny, healthy, overweight, and obese. And I am concerned about the fashion industry's diminshing weight and their effect us. But I do think it's fashion, and thats that. I also don't think designers should be forbidden from using models under a B.M.I of 15, like in Spain and France, but I do think this is a growing issue. What do you think? Are the runways always going to be destined to have "sticks in stilletos"? Will curves ever be popular again? And where do you draw the line on
