Pattie Boyd 03/29/2009

Pattie Boyd is a 60's model who modeled with the likes of a Twiggy, partied with swinging London, and married two rockstars, George Harrison and Eric Clapton. I would love to go into intense details about the Beatle's personal life but this blog isn't about the Beatles and I would talk for hours..... Anyway, I personally think is super pretty, or at least she was. I love her wide-eyed doe eyes, fluffy hair, and lips. I guess that's all part of the 60's look, but I really like it. While Twiggy had talent Pattie was beautiful. I think I'm going to ask Lewa to do my makeup to look like her. Lewa could probably pull it off, I once asked her to do my makeup like Twiggy and that fairly worked! Not only did Pattie have cool husbands (seriously a Beatle, unfair jealous) she also had all the cool mod clothes and all the extravagent phsychedelic hippie clothes. Being a muse to the infamous songs including Layla and Something to me she definetly represents a movement in style and will always be my favorite model.

This photo shoot progressed exactly two minutes after the first one but it's a whole different look so we made it into a different post. The top look consists of my leather jacket (I hope you ike it, it's the one) and a Tommy Hillfiger spandex turtle-neck. My top half style was based on the 1959-1962ish Astrid Kircher Reeperbahn, German style. Where the teddy boys met up with the avant garde intellectuals and formed a tailored leather jacket, or at least thats how I imagined it happened. I know The Beatles got Astrid to make these style merged jackets, so thats pretty cool. And the bottom half is um just my favorite belt and Japanese floral skirt. Anyway, I feel pretty special in an outfit somewhat similar to The Beatles.

H&M Leather Jacket $50, Tommy Hilfiger Turtle-Neck $?, Forever21 Belt $10, Nordstroms Skirt $?, Lewa's Coach Shoes $90

Today, after school Lewa and I trudged home to her house to do our first photo shoot. After the many nice and encouraging comments about wanting to see my clothes I figured why not. We decided it was prudent to begin before it started raining. The moment we stepped outside on to her porch it started raining, welcome to Seattle. But due to the magical wonders of the technological world Lewa was able to fix the pictures to make the weather look reasonably warm and not raining. The last to photo's were our favorites, except truthfully I don't play the guitar (it's Lewa's dad's) or even have the slightest idea how to. But it would be sure fun to learn.
Gap tank-top $20, Forever21 hat $7, tulip skirt $30, and 5 inch heels $20

I thought this spread was adorable from TeenVouge. The photographer Arthur Elgort  is actually the father of Ansel Elgort (what a name) the boy model in the spread. Arthur's pictures have a homey southern style and the light is balanced with the placement of the models and objects. The boy Ansel, who is fifteen, seems to have good chemistery with the model and the fact that they are both so young makes the photos really cute! Supposedly, he has modeled for American and foreign Vouges but his real passion is acting and can't wait for his big break. Anyway, the clothes were very charming and notice the attention to detail. I haven't seen jean over-all-s look so cool since the Come On Eileen music video, which I really only saw recently because I wasn't alive in 1982...

Tights 03/24/2009

Ok, so I never have been really a big fan of tights, nor really socks. Actually I hate socks, and I have no idea why. Ask any of my friends I only wear socks if I have to, even though my school requires us to. Anyway, over the last two years I have really gotten into tights (but not socks) through colours. In Gossip Girl the mean girls and the kinda mean girls and the nieve girls and the kinda nice girls and the just plain sneaky girls all wear colourful tights. They have enough money to buy the Dolce & Gabbana's bag collection but instead they spend it on tights. Can you believe that? Pink, purple, navy, creme, violet, turqoise, green, gray, black, red, seriously every colour of tights. Is it for the glamour sophistication touch? I don't know. Feeling inspired, while I was on vacation in the Netherlands, I convinced my mom to buy me purple and red tights instead of a red cool/kinda weird buddha necklace. I don't know what you think about colorful tights but, I sure like them. They make gray winter dresses fun and Gossip Girl proved to me they make spring dresses cute.

This post will have to be super bried because I need to rush off to an 80's party. So, yesterday i watched Top Gun with my friend and we thought it was world and qouted practically the whole movie all day while we went shopping, it was fun. Anyway after seeing Tom Cruise in the unbelievebly hot leather jacket... I of course wanted one. We ran ran around looking through all the stores until we found one. I found it at H&M for $50. It's not exactly like his but looks incredibly similar to the one on ModernAntoinettes's blog. I'm so happy!!! I can't find a picture so go to ModernAntoinette's blog to see her look-a-like.

Kate Middleton 03/19/2009

Kate Middleton, the soon-should be-probabaly will be english princess. As Prince Harry, her boyriend's brother, says it's not a matter about will it happen but when. I can already hear the bell chimes from Westminister and can see Woolworth ready to roll out the comemorative plates. Kate is poised, elegant, well educated, and easy to like...definetly HRH material. She has slightly a Sloane Ranger style (learned that term from my father) with all the tweeds but, over all I find her and her clothing charming. Prehaps she will be the next Grace Kelly in her taste, and the next Diana with her appeal to the public, however, with hopefully a happier ending than both of them.

Sea of Shoes 03/18/2009

Coco Chanel 03/18/2009

My mum and I just watched Coco Chanel. It's a three hour long biography saga movie on her life. I liked it and I didn't. Three hours seemed like it would go on forever and didn't quite commit to presenting the most famous influential designer of the 20th century properly.  And I "loved" how in the flashbacks (which pretty much lasted the entire movie) the young Coco had a strong french accent and then when the came back to the seventy-five year old Shirley MacLaine Coco she had none. I keep on saying oooCo in a cool/weird french way. However, it shows a nearly complete history of her life. Suprsingly, she wasn't glamorous as i thought her to be, she had a very rags-to-riches life. Starting at an orphange after cruely being abandoned by her father, to an eighteeen year old dress maker assistant correcting her bosses work, to creating a movement ofmore relaxed dress,  then ending as an unfazed woman dealing with rejection still through a cigarette and a firm upper lip. Thankfully, It was a well shot film and displayed her wit and clothes. I don't know whether I would suggest it but I sure learned a whole lot.

Ok, I'm fairly mad right now because I have tried to post this three times but each time it has shut down on me. So, I'm now just going to give you a very limmited summary. I am unsuprisingly inspired by green today and these are my selections/collection.
